Changing Your Perception By Turning Off The News

It really got me thinking about the perception of the world we live in. Sometimes it may seem like the world is full of people who are untrustworthy or even dangerous but the truth is, most folks are good people, you just have to know where to look. We live in a world where negative news stories get the most attention and rarely is a good deed or positive act highlighted. It’s no wonder we live in a state of fear of “dangerous people” when we are being conditioned to think that only those sorts of people exists.

It’s for this reason I decided to conduct a little experiment with myself. I made a choice to cut down on reading the news and engaging in political Social Media posts. This has proven difficult for me because I’m the type of person who wants to know “what’s going on in the world”. But you know what I realized? Same shit, different day.

Now, I’m not saying I stick my fingers in my ears and “LA-LA-LA-LA-LA-LA” these issues away, I am aware they exists. What I am saying is I have chosen to limit my time on such activities and focus my energy on things I can actively change within my own life instead of engaging in mindless, low frequency distractions.

I can happily report that I’ve seen more manifesting activity and understanding in my life since deciding to clear my mind of all the media-hyped fear we are served on a daily basis. The time spent on such things is now spent on journaling, listing off reasons I’m grateful, writing, meditating consistently, moving my body more, and overall badassery.

With all the Negative News we are fed, let us not forget that ultimately, people are inherently good and most will go out of their way to help their fellow human when given the opportunity. If you can’t find those people, be one.
