On this day, I thought back to all the challenges I overcame in my life. Getting into college, pulling all-nighters, losing friends. These were all obstacles from my early 20s. As I have gotten older, life has made the hurdles more interesting. Competing for internships, recovering from being fired, switching careers. Life pushes us along a bumpy road. But with each bump, our hearts grow stronger and our minds become wiser. It amazes me when I think about some of the hardships I’ve been through. I think, “wow, I can’t believe I made it through that.” The storms rage but they eventually pass. Each brush with heartache always brought out the best in me.

Paris Amelia’s quote is still tacked on my board as a gentle reminder. Life may be hard sometimes, but I have been trained to weather each obstacle.
